I have a set of GW levels and hydraulic heads in several points for a given area. I have one lecture per day and I could infer climatic conditions from nearby weather stations. I want to know if with this and basic information about the soil strata it would be possible to have an educated guess of how this area would behave under heavy rainfall.
You need to check the response time of the GW in your area of study. Depending on the response time you can judge if a single daily observation is enough. Plotting your GW levels vs time might give you a good look at GW rise and drop rates.
If you have measurements that occurred during strong rainfall events, you just need to identify these events and analyze what happened. If you would like to predict what would happen in the event of a storm that is too large to have been experienced in the measured time frame, you could then create and calibrate a groundwater model based on your observations and the forcings, create a "design" storm with the return period of your choice (through a frequency analysis), and then force it through your model.
