I need to know whether my applied process affects the bactericidal effect of Antibiotic powder, so I want to test the powder effect not dissolving it and putting it on filter paper disks.
Is there any documented procedure or specification for tableting AB powder for sensitivity test?
You don't need to compress them. All you need to do is make them in a powder form then you measure some quantity and pow into the well you have created on your petri dish which have been impregnated with your test organism
Antibiotic testing in a petri dish depends on the compound, with activity against the test organism, diffusing into the agar. That is the reason the compound is made soluble before it is added to a well or disk. Yes you can add a powder to the surface of the agar plate and if it has antibiotic activity that diffuses into the agar it should show a zone of inhibition. However, it will be very difficult to quantify the activity as a proportion of powder will remain insoluble.
As far as I know, your and any antibiotic can not be used in solid form as tablets or compressed powder, regardless its group. Because it must be in applicable form as solution of known concentration, or paper discs loaded with known concentration of this antibiotic> For diffusion in agar (in case of solid medium ) it is preferable to water soluble antibiotic or dissolved in volatile organic solvent with precautions of using control. بس كنت طالب عملنا تجربة لنشوف تأثير الصادات الحيوية على كذا نوع بكتيريا, بعدما حضرنا أطباق البيتري ونشرنا البكتيريا, حفرنا حفر صغيرة بواسطة مسبار معقم, قطرا حوالي كم ميلي, يعني قد الاقراص العادية وشلنا الآغار وضفنا بودرة الصادات الحيوية بقلب الحفر. طبعا اشتغلت التجربة وشفنا نتائج تماما متل لو عاملين أقراص. الطريقة كتير بدائية بس المهم عطتنا نتائج
