I think it depends on your choice of organism. If you are interested in only bacterial isolates or some species of it, you can add antibiotics that selectively eliminate fungal species or undesired bacterial species respectively in to the enrichment medium. That, in my suggestion, will save you time and energy in your course of research. I agree with Ajijolakewu Kamoldeen, but sometimes it may be impossible to get desired bacteria from environmental sample after adding antibiotics. Sometimes, it is recommended to add specific antibiotics and sometimes, antibiotics are readily added in dehydrated media for isolation of certain bacteria. I think antibiotics dont enrich media for bacterial growth.
