Can geographic regions achieve recognition via "accreditation" (or something similar) for the produce they supply from agriculture and related primary production?

For example, a region in Australia that produces sugar (or another output that is the mainstay) as well as other value-added products (ie perhaps those foods that have been locally manufactured) that could potentially be aggregated as part of a region's offering, so that the region's offerings (as a whole) could be leveraged, marketed and positioned in consumer markets in a more co-ordinated way. It could for example, lend itself to a logo or product label, etc.

Does this make sense as a concept for positioning a region and its produce?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I appreciate that this is a marketing type question but I am looking for some creative input from the smart folks in my network!

If you have ideas on how to better frame the question, I am open to that.

Are there experts in this area that you know of? [Note: I am not suggesting you endorse such individuals or organisations]

For example, case studies on other Australian regions that have attempted to undertake similar endeavors would be most valuable.

Looking forward to your thoughts and ideas on this question.

Kind regards,

Turlough
