When applying the UKMO equations I am getting the negative values for the HDD (heating degree days), though when applying the Ashrae Formula we either get positive values or 0 (given that the condition remains unfulfilled). So I was wondering what is the significance of these negative values of Degree Days?
Look at the link for the specification of the UKMO calculations. Making the calculations in Kelvin rather than degrees C can avoid confusion.

Thank you for the link it is indeed very helpful, but I am still a little unsure about what the daily negative values which I get in HDD when using UKMO equations. My dillema is this , I have read that Degree days cannot be negative. If the formula results in a negative, then it means that there is ZERO degree days. So by adding daily degree days for each day in a month we can get the total degree days for that month. What I couldn't figure out when summing the daily Degree Days (HDD to be precise) over the month should I take the negative values to be 0 or should I take them as it is i.e negative summed with positive values. Can you please clarify this, would be obliged. Thank you
