I am studying about simulation of Anion exchange membrane fuel cell. I also plans to use Comsol software to do. However, I found the document that Comsol only simulate PEMFC, SOFC and DMFC. Does anyone use this software to simulate AAEMFC? Please clarify to me. Thank you in advance!
What exactly are you trying to simulate with Comsol, and at how high a level? To model AAEMFCs, you need to account for the fact that water is a reactant at the cathode, so a PEMFC model won't innately work unless you can build that in.
Additionally, fluid transport through the membrane affects AAEMFCs operation substantially more than PEMFCs - in practice, anode hydration is significantly more important than cathode hydration, which suggests most of the reactant is being supplied by anode back-diffusion, at least for membranes less than 50 microns.
In my experience, the AEMFC modeling as a general is very poorly developed compared to PEMFCs. All the modeling studies on AAEMFCs I've read (e.g. S. Huo, H. Deng, Y. Chang, and K. Jiao, Int. J. Hydrogen Energy, 37, 18389–18402 (2012).) are radically off-base in many of their claims (including predicting water volume fractions and RH effects) compared to what I've seen experimentally - please tie your results to something experimental.
