Hello Madam,

The Chloride Assay Kit from Abcam offers a quick and easy way to measure the amount of chloride in a range of biological samples. The assay is based on Hg2+ and Fe2+ competing with one another for TPTZ. The Hg-TPTZ adduct that is preferred shows no colour. When Hg2+ and chloride are present, HgCl2 is formed, which releases TPTZ and binds the available Fe2+, resulting in an extremely strong absorbance with a λmax~ 620 nm. The test has a detection sensitivity of approximately 0.4 mM chloride and is linear in the range of 20 to 120 nmol chloride/well.
