i performed an experiment investigating the BDNF level in this model and found it increase compared to the control animals. did any reasearcher got a similar result? how could you explain it?
We performed similar AlCl3-induced neurodegeneration model (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37760778/). We also observed an increase of Bdnf expression level in prefrontal cortex (qPCR method, not published yet) but only in adult male Wistar rats (4-6 months old). Bdnf level in old rats was decreasedas predicted. It might occur due to enough amount of resources and adaptive reactions in adult animals. Old rats (24 months old) have not these resources to compensate inauspicious external impact any longer to produce enough level of BDNF.
