Hi!

I am trying to simulate stresses on a BBO (Barium borate) crystal. BBO has a trigonal 3m structure. With a=b 12.532 A and c=12.717 A. The thermal expansion is usually expressed in terms of X,Y and Z. However most of the BBO manufacturers and the released datasheets show a isotropic elasticity with a Young modulus of 8.8E10 N/m2, poisson ration 0.58...

Shouldn’t  the elasticity be expressed in terms of a orthotropic behavior? In that case which ones?

Thanks,
