Methylammonium iodide (MAI) was synthesized by following the method mentioned in most of the literature for perovskite synthesis. MAI powder was dissolved in 2- propanol with concentration of
10 mg/ml and left for stirring about an hour. But, some part of it remains undissolved and the solution turns light yellowish sometimes.
What could be the reason for this. Can someone help please?

1> I guess you need to calibrate your weighing balance, probably your solution may have reached saturation.
2> Before using MAI, wash it with diethyl ether and dry, then try mixing.
3> Try sonicating at high frequency.
4> try giving little temperature while dissolving.
Hope one of these works.
there is a power capacity for solvent to dissolve any organic compound. you can add few drops of water or methanol to increase its solubility
MAI wased with solvent as suggested above and take one precaution dissoved MAI under N2 atmosphere,But nitrogen only flush otherwise your solvent also evaporate.

Yes, I did wash my synthesized white powder/crystals of MAI for 3 times with diethyl-ether by mixing in it for few minutes.
Then finally redissolved in ethanol for 30 minutes under stirring and then removed etanol by rotavap before drying MAI in vacuum oven for overnight.
Sir Edward, can you please share some good references so that I can cross check purity of my synthesized(MAI) salt.
May be the XRD patterns...
