I would like to model the human oocyte flowing into a micro-channel. I would like to find information about the density (weight) of the human oocyte. I would like to know if the density of the human oocyte is bigger than the density of the solution used in intra cytoplasmic sperm injection procedure. When the human oocyte is immersed into the solution, does it go down to the bottom of the micro-channel because of gravitation, or it is floating freely into the solution?
I can't answer 100% for human oocytes because I work with horses but we use the human media GMOPS for our injections. I would presume that it would be similar however, and our oocytes do drop to the bottom of the media drop that we perform the injections in. So, I would say that the oocytes are more dense than the medium for the ICSI. The only time we have issues with them floating is if an oocytes gets stuck to the side of an air bubble it will stay uo with the air bubble unless you gently take it off. Honestly, I really don't know the densities. I would think it would vary somewhat by species depending on how lipid dense the oocytes are and could potentially change depending on what they may take up from the medium. I came across these to articles. I am not sure if they will be helpful for you or not.

Kindly try to see if you can get in touch with scientists at Northwestern Univeristy, Dept of Reproductive Medicine as they might help you. As a far as I know they have cultured oocytes 3-D. May be the biophysicists involved might be of some help.
