I have problems in actinomycete culturing, maintaining and during incubation periods.
I am using petri plates for the screening of actinomycetes. During the incubation periods in the incubator I am facing the fungal contamination. Even after fumigation I couldn't solve the problem.
If you work with pure cultures with autoclaved media in class 1 biosafety cabinet you should have no contaminations. If you grow them in erlenmeyer flasks check that they are perfectly sealed.
you can try a media without addition of carbohydrate. Medium containing yeast extract and some salt is sufficient for growth. Then may be your problem will be sortt out.
You can try a suitable antifungal antibiotic to inhibit the fungal growth which may not affect the growth of your required actinomycetes.
