The parameters to be analysed will ofcoures depend on the resources and reason for the study. Parameters can include the ones Rajendran has said but also, test for pH and conductivity. pH will have an influence on the availability of the pollutants. 

Suresh Kumar nice question .  I do not think , you will have to adopt two different types of soil tests in nearby dump site and from the dump site for assessment of pollution level. Otherwise , how will you arrive at conclusion about the pollution level , unless you compare the two sites.  The normal tests comprise of inorganic pollutants metals  ( Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr   ), organic pollutants 9 Dioxins, furans, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polybrominated diphenyl ethers) ,inorganic compounds ( ammonium, nitrate , nitrites , sulphates, chlorides ) , and microbial pollutants as an indicators ( Total coliform, faecal coliform ) . these tests need to  be necessarily conducted .  You can many more to make more useful.But, it will be in fitness of the things , if you undertake the water analysis simultaneously ,  you are in a position to guide , to what an extent,  water body is also polluted as a result of accumulation of these pollutants in  a given area . I can provide you with a paper which may help you to sort out the soil tests necessary to detect pollution levels in soil near solid waste landfill/ dumping yard. I have used it in my research.

above here in the tread people have really explained the nature of the studies and the techniques to be applied. 

The research methodology has to be explained like how many samples he has to collect.

it depends on the size of the dump site because you must state the land area of that dumpsite as your point source of pollution, then sample some soil profile following a standardized method. I suggest you also get a control soil profile you will survey which is not contaminated so that you can establish some comparison studies as well.

I also suggest you extend the soil sampling above 30 cm deep  like extending up to 80-100cm with the auger as the case may be making it three samples in each of the profile pit this will help you account for the rate of seepage on the soil which can give clue on the tendency of the pollutants contaminating groundwater sources.

if they can help u some way. The first paper is on modeling groundwater contamination if u can come up with some idea to use it in soil contamination prediction.

I would do a background investigation on the dump first.  What communities does it serve?  Look for industries within the communities that contribute to the dump.  Look at their processes and determine, if possible, what chemical they use, and what they have historically produced.  It's probably in the dump.  For instance is there a plastics manufacturer?  If yes you would include those chemicals in your target list phthalates and bisphenol-A. Military or Dry cleaners, auto shops - chlorinated solvents. 

A good place to start would be to look at data from superfund sites throughout the USA.  They are well characterized and would help you understand what types of contaminants are associated with dumps.

First, we need to investigated that which type wastes are  dumping on that site. according to dumped waste we have to select parameter to analyse soil sample. 

Thank you Peter Philbrook  & Anand Dev Gupta, in this dump yard : household wastes, collecting from the city only dumping. No industrial wastes or chemical wastes are dumped. Only dumping house hold waste about 120 Mt per day. Past 10 years they are dumping, I want to identify any environmental hazards to the surrounding. Once again Thanks for your response......
