I would like to match the images of fingerprints, may be in JPEG file formats or so, with each other for the practical purpose of fingerprint matching or in biometrics or like Automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS). Please suggest any matlab code or any other good software which match the two fingerprint with minutiae detail.
Hello. I would think that there is no "best" method to match two fingerprints. In most processing problems involving noisy data or images, every method has its good and bad points. There are numerous surveys of methods for fingerprint matching. The IEEE Xplore is a good place to start, if you have access to that through your university. Most methods that I have seen extract features (minutiae) then correlate the feature maps from each image to produce a score that is thresholded to decide on a match. There are many different features, so you have to apply various image processing techniques to detect these. I would try methods based on invariants that work regardless of image orientation. Personally, I would decide on the method or methods to test first before going after Matlab code.
