We have made some initial experiments on Additive Manufacturing of composite materials using an EOS SLM machine and, to start with, standard EOS AlSi10Mg materials. To interpret the microstructural results we see, we would need some information on the temperatures and time-temperature profiles to be expected during passing of the laser over one specific area of material: These seem to be more severe than we would expect.
Naturally, we have parameters like laser power and scanning speed, but we do not have exact figures on energy uptake of the powders etc., and besides I do not have a possibility to measure the T-t-profiles readily at hand (Would anybody have an idea/setup for any such very localised measurement, too?).
For this reason, I'd be interested in publications, datasets etc. that cover similar problems (not necessarily composites, the pure AlSiMg matrix would be fine to start with) and that discuss parameter influences.
Thanks for your help!
