Carrying capacity is not a matter of identifying a fixed value, it can change over time. What can Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) research add to this measurement?
First find out how many Hotel, Guest house, Rest house, Banglow etc are there. Second, extract how many traveler may accommodate in each Hotel, Guest house, Rest house, Banglow etc. Third, find out the difference of accommodation charges in different time of a year. Fourth, see the range and classify them in suitable scale. Now it will able to find out tourism carrying capacity of a tourist spot.
I donot want my result in numbers. I want to do this to know the upper and lower limits of tourism carrying capacity. As carrying capacity is a tool for guiding policy formulation to arrive towards sustainable tourism. I have prepared a research design for it but i am stucked at how to integrate it at last.
To my understanding,The place of tourisum should invite the tourist according to the available resources like water, dwelling capacity(hotels),food and the other infrastructure related tourism.Means the locals should not suffer in their supply of essential resourses.Over burden of tourist may change the demand supply ratio and eventually the costly affaire will deterior the resoursesSo carring capacity of a tourist place is the number of tourists should be equal to the pleasent supply of resources not hurting or pinching the locals.
How to perform ? I think this can be done with secondary data and primary data by questionaire. like Capacity of drinking water, hotels capacity, agitation among the locals, etc.with Chronological study.
The concept of carrying capacity is not an easy concept to adapt to any aspect in academic circles. In my understanding of Tourism Carrying Capacity you have to look at tourist attractions available at any given place and time and jaxtapose them with the resources that can carry people attracted to them. This wiil give you an idea of tourism carrying capacity. Moreover, consider that tourism carrying capacity is influenced by spatial and temporal factors.
Check with the U.S. National Park Service. They regularly keep track of visitor usage in the parks and also try to model visitor usage in their park planning process. Accommodations and quantifiable recreation resources (such as miles of trail) are factors in evaluating visitor usage.
