I am in search of a standard protocol for determining total glycerol content in biodiesel Spectrophotometrically. Is there any method available for separate estimation of free and bound glycerol found in biodiesel preferably using a Spectrophotometer?

Dear Archana, I think its not possible to determine with the help of spectrophotometer, better you use the HPLC/ GC FID, these two mostly used for the determination of glycerol, n free and bonded glycerol. You check the procedure from the ASTM D 6584.

I think i understand your idea but i dont think using a spectrophotometer is sufficient. Gas chrom or Mass Spec is atleast needed.
