I fell the population should be an important factor on the relation. You might want to consider impose a weight of the distribution of population along the river.

I think population is important factor on river migration too. But my main problem is dividing river to separate sections right know. I need an advise for this part of my thesis.

Dear Saleh, I think you can go for equal sections on straight stretches, but you should not cut the section when there is meandering or braiding. As you are looking into morphological indices (i.e, sinuosity, braiding index etc), you might not get good comparison between a straight section and a braided or meandering section. Thanks.

I mean when you do the separate, where population density is high, you cut the section shorter than otherwise density is low.

some of these indexes need meander loop as you know for section. In other hand, some of the study indexes can be calculates in equal sections.i should investigate relationship among changes in these indexes with marginal land cover during time .  my professor has an idea, he told me that i can divide my 45 km case study to three sections 1- up land 2- middle land 3- down land in equal sections. what do you think about his idea??
