There is a huge amount of material on telemedicine - so it depends what you're looking for. Clinical indications, hardware requirements, wireless or wired network requirements, efficacy of patient monitoring devices at home .....the list just goes on.
An article I found most interesting was:
Inglis, S. C., Clark, R. A., McAlister, F. A., Stewart, S., & Cleland, J. G. (2011). Which components of heart failure programmes are effective? A systematic review and meta‐analysis of the outcomes of structured telephone support or telemonitoring as the primary component of chronic heart failure management in 8323 patients: abridged Cochrane Review. European journal of heart failure, 13(9), 1028-1040.
But --- it is only interesting if that is the focus of your research.
Hope this helps -- and if you can provide a little more information about your subject, I'll be happy to look at it again.
I agree with Melissa, there is a lot of research and activity in this particular area right now. I suggest that you browse the Tables of Contents of some of the JMIR publications-
In my papers you will find some extensive review of projects such as NEXES, SYNERGY and Renewing Health.
You can also find outcome reports on remote COPD diagnose currently in operation by Dr. Nuria Marina Marlanda.
I must warn you that telemedicine alone is no longer considered a technical challenge. Telemedicine (also referred as Medical Internet of Things in China) is not considered a goal by itself anymore, but a mean to deploy integrated care models where primary care practitioners, patients and specialists can work together under predefined care pathways.
So, the challenge is not to remotely collect medical data using the devices, but to integrate this data into the existing electronic health records to be available for health care professionals.
Hello Usama, if you could be more specific about your objective(s), many would be able to help you. In my recent clinical trial I have utilized mobile phone SMS capabilities to educate patients for the prevention of cardiac diseases. If you need help in that area I will be happy to help you.
