DoE is used for determining optimum weight percentage of filers to be incorporated in polymer matrix composites based on certain fixed properties achievable towards end such as mechanical properties Tensile (E, UTS, poison ratio) and Flexural (F Stress, F E, F Strain @max. F Stress)
I am not sure of how to and which one to select as my package for calculation of weight percentage of fillers. I am particularly looking for a package having integration and possibility to take data input from and present result in MS Excel Sheets / workbooks.
Please guide / recommend me towards some good package (cheap / free (desktop / web base))?
I personally use Minitab as well as Visual Xsel (CRGRAPH).
Visual Xsel has a D-optimal Calculation Feature that can sometimes be better for optimizing with more than 2 Levels. Visual Xsel is also a little cheaper, but I am not sure what it costs now. Minitab will be a little more expensive.
Both are compatible with MS Excel data, although you might have to do more copy and paste rather than a direct Import.
Given by business directives i need to use Minitab. You will find good secondary literature for example ISBN-1 978-0-07-296662-6 which will introduce to a lot of statistical applications, often usîng Minitab.
A cheap and versatile stastistical Package is also NCSS - sometimes wth poor graphics but i often like to apply a direct ANOVA Analysis to experimental data, since i experienced more than one tme that direct ANOVA (weighting on lower order effects) instead of a regression analysis (weighting all coefficients the same) yield more robust results.
Regarding DoE, excellent gaphical pesentation an most propably state of the art analysis tools - please take a look at "http://www.statease.com/dx10.html" which is the best implmetaion of DoE i exprinced so far. As example: - tools will give you an idea about the experimental error and its distribution in your calcultion range; there are also tools to detect influences on your claculations if you have not been able to set-up exprimental levels exactly - inoder to judge if the orthogonality of your model is harmed by deviains from the initial plan.

Can I request you to please guide me towards a good example of use of Minitab for calculation of percentages (wt.%age) of filler content in polymer matrix as a function of poison ratio, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and flexural strength?
An example / a paper carrying data range (numerical values) would be very helpful.
