I don't have it but this may be of interest to you. Chelex 100 used to be used to remove inhibitors from DNA extractions prior to PCR. It is available from Sigma. It is a resin

I tried ordering a kit from Qiagen a few months back, one that had previously used the inhibitex tablets. I was told they couldn't source the tablets anymore so had changed the kit I wanted to order to one with a buffer that contains the inhibitex instead.. Maybe you could get your hands on some of the buffer without having to order a whole kit or an alternative formulation containing the inhibitex from them?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have tried the buffer, but unfortunately cannot obtain the same results as with the tablets - they seem to be far more efficient at removing inhibitors from my samples. The latest I heard from Qiagen is that they will soon be restocking the tablets (mid-August or so).

Have you tried an inhibitor resistance mastermix? Quanta Toughmix; Life Tech Fast Virus; KAPA Blood all work well for me

You may also try a Zymo kit. I have used the Fecal DNA MiniPrep Kit with success. Many of Zymo's kits produce inhibitor-free DNA: http://www.zymoresearch.com/dna/genomic-dna. Just another option for you to check out. They are usually helpful and will send a sample kit to you if you'd like to give it a try.
