I have performed this experiment several times but failed.The main problem is that its UV spectra has a lot of distortion and its peak is not on 260nm. The DNA which i extracted has 1.5 purification ratio.

A ratio of - 1.8 is generally accepted as pure for DNA. If the ratio is appreciably lower in either case, it may indicate the presence of protein, phenol or other contaminants that absorb strongly at or near 280 nm.
If response factor for protein or any substances at 280nm higher than you can receive ratio 1.5 but but the peck other than 260nm.
