Looking for good references to get basic idea of FDTD method.
I would like to get the basic idea to study how does the software Lumerical FDTD works.
That means how the software calculate scattering cross section, absorption cross section and near electric field intensity profile etc.

Try searching by a keyword "Numerical Electromagnetic" in Google. You should find many documents on "FDTD Method", including some free E-Books.

Here is a new resource to teach FDTD. It is an online course intended for the complete beginner. It teaches the convolutional PML and other advanced techniques. All of the MATLAB codes and line-by-line explanation of everything is included. Here is a video explaining the courses:

You may also be interested in the frequency-domain brother of the FDTD method, the finite-difference frequency-domain method. In fact, the two methods are often combined. For example, you can calculate guided mode or Bloch waves sources with FDFD and then launch those sources into a larger simulation with FDTD. Here is a book that is also intended for the complete beginner that covers everything from the simplest concepts up to advanced simulations of 3D devices and anisotropic materials.
