Can anyone give a suggestion regarding a hydroponics set up to assess the impact of some engineered nanoparticles in plants instead of a soil system?

as we know soil is a complicated system in which nanoparticles may interact with its colloids.so I feel that for a preliminary study with my engineered nanoparticles a hydroponics system is good.Kindly give me a suggestion.Using perlite instead of liquid medium is recommendable?
