Your question is somewhat confusing. It is quite possible that your .vcf does not contain information about gene or gene sequence. It would contain information about variants, and at minimum would list the chromosome, the position, rs ID, reference and alternate, but other fields depend on your pipeline for creating the .vcf. It could have the gene name or symbol associated with a particular variant but if not you can figure that out from the chromosome and position and annotate your .vcf in that way.
