We are looking for a simple method which does not require any sophisticated instrumentation. I think there is some method wherein some substance of known molecular weight can be added into the culture, and then by finding out how much of it has entered microbial cells, one can indirectly measure permeability.
But I do not have any precise protocol for this.
Please help.
are you looking for something like trypan blue that is used for cell viablity ?
