Chlorinated phenols are used in many industrial processes. These are highly toxic in nature and to animal and human beings. Therefore, their removal from wastewater is a matter of concern. Please provide the details where phenols are used in different industrial process.

The USEPA has a comprehensive on-line compendium of methods for many organic and inorganic chemicals in solids, water, waste water, and also air. It is called SW846 Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste Physical/Chemical Methods. see http://www.epa.gov/osw/hazard/testmethods/sw846/online/index.htm. Search for phenols. There will be one method to extract them from water and another method to perform MS analysis.
I would like to recommend a rather simple photomeztric method with p- 4- Nitroanilin.
you can do analysis on UV spectrophotometer. it is easily available in any chemical Engineering lab. and method for that can available from any analytical book.

A very easy colorimetric method is the Singleton-Rossi method. This will provide total phenols, not individual types of phenols. This was originally developed for wine. http://waterhouse.ucdavis.edu/faqs/folin-ciocalteau-micro-method-for-total-phenol-in-wine
