Dear colleagues,

Does anybody have an experience with Al polishing? We are going to align the polished samples using X-ray reflectivity, so a good quality of polishing and as little roughness as possible are essential. However, we don't care (for the moment) about the crystallographic orientation of the samples, these are likely to be polycrystalline and/or Al alloys. We have the support resins and a range of diamond paste (10um to 10nm)... Could anybody comment on the procedure? Are there any tricks? - because I heard it may be very tricky to polish soft metals (Al, Cu, etc).

Regards and thanks in advance for your contributions.
