I want to do the stress measurement of my YIG thin films by XRD, where the XRD pattern will be recorded at different penetration depth of x-ray. To calculate the different penetration depth we required X-ray absorption coefficient of YIG for Cu K-alpha radiation ?
I don't know whether this could help. When I have to have an idea of the massic absorption coefficient of x-rays for a certain material, I use the NIST XCom database ( http://physics.nist.gov/PhysRefData/Xcom/html/xcom1.html ): it allows to insert any material composition and x-ray you want.

I attend the NIST calculation for the attenuation cross section for YIG in the composition Y3Fe5O12.
You must only find the energies of your copper K X-raxs. The value can be found in X-raybooklet, K-binding energy is 8979 ev, K-X-ray energies are
Kalpha1: 8047.78 eV
Kalpha2: 8027.83 eV
Kbeta1: 8905.29 eV.
