We are collecting information on the impact of water pollution on freshwater plankton in and around the University of Delhi. We have a problem in identifying several species. Can someone please help us? I request you to identify the species in the attached pictures.
Notholca sp. The other species is capsulated and hard to identify, but may be referred to kind of Bdelloidea. The toes look relatively large, so it might be something else, but you can check for the trophi (jaws) with bleach destruction.

For the second species have you looked at the reference Water and wastewater analysis by APHA. They have a comprehensive booklet at the end of it with coloured photos.
The second picture looks like a protozoan. Not sure what the name of it is, though I have seen them in Lake Erie a lot.

hi, the 1st look like butterfly scale, I don't think is Notholca because look flat whithout body shape or volumetric, and in the anterior part the "spines" are irregular while Notholca has 4 well differentiated spines.... the 2nd you need the trophi to know at least the genera or family, it could be a bdelloid or a notommatid rotifer maybe...
