If it's the sodium salt, dissolve it in water to the desired concentration, filter sterilize and store at -20*C. If the free acid, add NaOH until it dissolves, then filter and store at -20*C.
Just add the anhydrous powder directly to cooled LB agar and stir until dissolved. Same for LB broth.
