Breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance and condition based maintenance cover the entire trends of past and current maintenance strategies. Total maintenance covers all these and provides enhanced reliability in machine operations.

Reliability based prediction of maintenance interval of sub-system or system is an interesting topic. Use of fuzzy , ANFIS, GA and COANFIS techniques in reliability assessment is also catching up. Furthermore, total Quality Management (TQM) through improved maintenance and reliability studies is also a good area.
