The journal “Journal of Community Medicine and Health Solutions” is published by “Heighten Science Publications Inc.” a publisher with ‘issues’:
-The contact info suggests a US based organization but renders nothing specific in Google and is questioned here https://theregoestheneighbourhood.com/blog/?plink=liar-lisa/e391de4c47f6467541ad8d0fb959c92b
-They are mentioned in a list of questionable journals/publishers here Article Keeping Medical Science Trustworthy: The Threat by Predatory Journals
-They used to be named HSPC (Heighten Science Publication Corporation) and was not mentioned positive here http://flakyj.blogspot.com/2019/05/heightened-science-envelopes-all.html
-See also here on RG https://www.researchgate.net/post/I_need_to_know_what_is_the_most_appropriate_action_to_do
- Nowadays they call themselves “Heighten Science Publications Inc.” (in an attempt to stay away from the questionable reputation of the previous names?).
-Indeed the mail address you mention with @hspcprocess.net” shows the link with HSPC while they desperately try to stayaway from it by using nowadays @hspioa.(org)or(us) that refers to their new name HSPI
I see at best a publisher that tries to “get their act together” but with so many issues I would personally stay away from it. If you come to the same conclusion, just throw the mail in the bin (answering or unsubscribe will just put you even more in their system since they see a ‘sign of life’).
Rob Keller I answered yesterday accepting to review because I could not imagine about scam. Later I read on the internet about the existence of scam emails. How can I do now? I should write that I don’t want to review and receive other emails? Thank you for your answer!
Dear Aurora Mautone They now already know that you are "alive and kicking" ;-).
I would contact them one more time with a little note that you decline your previous willingness to perform a (peer?) review.
Then block this e-mail address and never respond again (just delete every mail that you might receive from them). It is somewhat annoying but receiving such mails are relatively harmless and just require one action: press delete.
I also received email from [email protected], and different from all other journals which I review, they sent the manuscript directly attached in the email, which I think is risk with so many scams around. They might be legit, but defineatley not the best way to request a reviewer for an manuscript evaluation...
I keep constantly getting review assignments from the various email addresses *@hspcprocess.net for various journals. As the requests come directly with manuscript and some kind of review form I question myself sometimes if the requests are real or scam, once I check for journal existence. Tough I never reviewed any of the manuscripts, but this with time is becoming an issue, since some of genuine publishers like mdpi.com send occasionally manuscripts in emails when you're overdue on reviewing time.
I believe issues with *@hspcprocess.net and similar scam requests that tend to appear real require some kind of situation awareness among scientists.
I also received a review request from a real journal, emailed from "[email protected]". I contacted to journal's editor to confirm if its legit! It is very unusual to receive a review request like this, I was wondering if there is an easier way to confirm these requests.
