Hi everyone:
I am learning about transcriptional regulators in bacteria. They can act as repressors or activators. It is generally accepted that some ligands (such as fatty acids) can inactivate a repressor, impairing its ability to bind to DNA. On the other hand, activators often need a putative ligand to activate the regulatory protein and thus its DNA-binding capacity. My question is: Can the opposite happen? that a transcriptional activator is inactivated by a ligand such as fatty acids? Do you know some examples? Thanks in advanced
