But SNP could be an excellent marker to correlate different levels of allele expression and allele structure. Even though the SNP could not be directly responsible of this variation in expression level, it can be linked to other mutations on the same allele sequence so giving the opportunity to establish the causal relation.

Hi, for me epigenetics it is something dynamic and I consider SNPs as something static (at least quite stable form of DNA and rare event during a human life).

Hello Joana, in recent studies found that epigenetic affected the DNA in both sides. briefly, if the reaction between human and environment, stress, nutrition, age and physical activities so DNA changes cause charcteristic copying with the changed curcumctances, or changes which causes diseases, abnormal, or oncogenic). Yes epigenetics has usually been about methylation turning copies of genes on and off, due to environmental factors. SNPs are something you are born with, one-base corruptions which may do nothing or a great deal. I haven't seen too much which suggests that SNP mutations in a gene can affect the methylation behaviour - but Zaina et al. say it can.

Actually, SNPs does not fall under epigenetic variation in strict sense. But, there are many evidences where SNPs led to epigenetic variations. So, rather SNPs can be considered to a medium by which genetics talk with epigenetics.

In general, there are two fundamental ways, by which transcription is regulated. First, the changes in DNA sequence, which are responsible for genetic gene regulation and second, the regulation of chromatin structure at the epigenetic level. The selective pressure tends to decrease the frequency of genetic variants within exons, in comparison to the promoters and introns. SNPs in these non coding regions, may lead to histone modifications, which may further control the transcription at epigenetic levels.

So, instead of considering SNPs as an epigenetic variation, one may consider it to a medium by which the interplay between sequence variations and chromatin structure occurs, which can control at epigenetic level.

SNPs are surely not epigenetic changes. However, you can use SNPs to study their impact on epigenetic processes at the studied DNA region. The fact is that the features of any epigenetic hereditary factor are jointly determined by the epigenetic marks and the corresponding DNA region. The deteils depend on what mechanism of epigenetic inheritance you deal with, there are about ten of them.

Although, Single Nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are not under category of epigenetic changes. But SNPs it may change the motif of particular gene locus. Becuase of change in motif caused by SNP, it may favour some epigenetic factors such as miRNA or hisone PTMS bind strongly or sometimes weak interaction. So in your case, beacuse of SNP in gene may cause some TFs bind strongly or miRNA seed binding region in your gene is altered, so weak miRNA-mRNA interaction, it leads to increased gene expression.
