I am working on Organic solar cells and been trying to use Gold as an electrode (Anode). But my cells are shunted. I am wondering if a thin layer of MoO3 after the polymer blend could help gold to form uniform continuous layer thereby preventing shunts?
I tried on google but couldn't find much. Does anyone have any similar experience or could guide me to any literature?

Diffusion of gold (and in general of noble metals) depends on different factors, for example temperature. In particular if you have sulphur in your blends (e.g. thiophen moieties) there is chemical affinity in between gold and polymer. The insertion of a MoO3 barrier can be useful but you have to be sure that the film is continous.
MoO3 is used as hole transparent layer in organic solar cells. It can be also used to prevent metal diffusion inside active layer but thickness optimisation is necessary otherwise it will affect the short circuit current density.
