I need to dissolve 4′-Bromo-3′-nitroacetophenone in methanol or ethanol for use in Chalcone synthesis by Claisen-Schimdt condenstaion reaction. Can anyone guide if it needs temperature too? I have tried sonication for approx. 10 minutes but didn't work.
This is strange, I has solubilized many substituted acetophenones in dichloromethane. Solubility in water is probably low but not nil. What "many solvents" are? What is the concentration needed?

Thank you for your response. Sorry I didn't mention that I have been trying to dissolve it in alcohols like methanol and ethanol as I want to use this for chalcone synthesis.
