Calculation of step size of line search in Quasi newton from the parameters specified ?

How do abaqus calculates the line search step size while we use Quasi newton method for solving non-linear problem ?

If there is a formula , please mention that and the reference to that as well ?

Also, how to override that by specifying our own line search step size ? Do we have to give that command in the input file after boundary condtions of last step of the analysis ?
