Do you know any book on Participatory Design Approach for housing projects? Something that highlights different introduced methods regarding participatory design approach (Design with clients - or possible future clients)
There are some important experiences in Latin America, that you may take a look if you are debating participatory design from a political perspective, relating architects and communities. Unfortunately, most of the references are written in Portuguese or Spanish. I suggest below what I could find in English -- I hopeI they contribute with yout research.
James Holston, Autoconstruction in Working-Class Brazil in Cultural Anthropology (1991)
Article Autconstruction in Working-Class Brazil
Fernanda Magalhães, Slum Upgrading: Lessons Learned from Brazil (2012)
Haven't read it yet but I am curious about this book: Hamdi, Nabeel, Housing WIthout Houses: Participation, Flexibility, Enablement (London: Intermediate Technology, 1995). I would also look up these two:
N. J Habraken, Supports: An Alternative to Mass Housing (London: Architectural Press, 1972).
---, The Structure of the Ordinary: Form and Control in the Built Environment, ed. by Jonathan Teicher (Cambridge, MA: MIT Press, 2000).
