Sometimes ago, I submitted an article paper to a journal on-behalf of other co-authors. I was the second author as well as corresponding author. While the principal Investigator was the first author. But I was accused of making myself corresponding author, meanwhile I was the one that submitted the manuscript to the journal and did all the corresponding with them . They claimed that corresponding author is the owner of the paper which I tried to refute. At last we withdrew it from publication. It has been published and we wrote to them to remove it from circulation because of authors conflict of interest and it was withdrawn.

Others claimed that the Last author is usually the supervisor of the research work while the first author is usually the student that carried out the research work. How true is this assertion ?
