My respected Colleagues, I will like to know if it is possible to be appointed Assistant Professor or Senior Lecturer without any publication. As in the course of running your PhD program, the system didn't permit you to publish any article from your work due to secretive or high confidential works you carried out. You have been in another academic environment working for long as Faculty. Now that you have left their system and earned your PhD. You decided to apply to another university as Faculty member or Lecturer. The University now appoint you as assistant professor or senior Lecturer based on your teaching experiences and not on your publications.

Is this normal in academic setting ?
