Hi, I've been hearing about a "new" type of mediation analysis called Latent Class Mediation.
In my data, the effect from predictor to outcome may be mediated by belonging to a particular latent class.
However, textbooks are still rare on this subject. I'm wondering if somebody knows of a paper or textbook that has been published recently that describes the procedure of a Latent Class Mediation in detail?

This is not actually a new analysis, however, more choices of methods are now available for latent class mediation. It may be mentioned that latent variable modeling does not necessarily refer to latent class modeling as some differences are there as far as data types are used and objectives of the analysis are concerned. It appears that structural equation modeling (SEM) is typically used for such analysis. Latest options in SmartPLS, like Finite Mixture Modeling can help a lot in this regard.
You may also try SPSS macro developed by Prof. Hayes for mediation analysis for latent variable models, if applicable in your case. Please follow the attached web-link.

You mentioned factor scores, but since latent classes are categorical, wouldn't posterior probabilities be analogous?
I'm using Mplus and have thought about saving the posterior probs and using them as knownclass in a mediation framework with a nominal mediator (which seems to be possible in Mplus?!)
