I am exciting a piezo-ceramic actuator by sine wave (particular frequency) and recording velocity information from laser vibrometer. I am using rectangle window for my analysis so far. I came across that rectangle window is very effective in terms of frequency and amplitude resolution only when recorded signals are periodic. In case if the recorded signals are not periodic, I read that Hanning window gives the best results by supressing the signals at the end.

I have recorded velocity information starting from 10kHz to 300kHz. Can I apply Rectangle window for signals which are periodic and Haning for the rest? Finally, I have to plot overview of amplitude from 10kHz - 300kHz.
