I am trying to integrate a battery unit with a DC microgrid in RSCAD software in voltage control loop. However, I am not able to understand the battery modelling as the battery terminal voltage is showing large ripples when connected to high resistance load. Please assist.
Use PSIM program you can find the simulation online and easy to be used
The only time you would get this effect in real world situation is a catastrophic failure of the battery. So the simulation algorithm, or its software implementation, is likely to be at fault. Check carefully what your simulated battery does at or near (a) full charge state and (b) nearly discharged state. I suspect at least one of these points will be incorrectly simulated.
After a few observations, I have realised that the interfacing (between small time step and main time step) transmission line parameters were not set properly when I connected battery model with load (in small time step for further studies).
To interface battery with small time step components in RSCAD, other interfacing method which can be employed is Ideal transformer method. With this technique I am able to see almost constant battery terminal voltage.
