Greetings,
I synthesized the composite of CuS with another material and tested its performance against organic dyes under visible light. It composite worked very well under visible light.
But the problem is that the bandgap of CuS Composite is higher than its bulk CuS.
Why is this even possible?
Any help will be appreciated to solve this mystery of mine.
Dear Rana Muhammad Yousaf Saeed, the band gap of the material other than CuS used for the composite might be greater and the percentage of CuS also matters in the composite. if the CuS percentage is less than the other material (band gap is more than CuS), the band gap of the resultant composite will be higher.

you have mentioned that the optical band gap of your composite sample is larger than your primary sample but it is achieved better performance for degrading organic dyes. it can be interpreted based on the degradation mechanism. the electron-hole pairs have critical roles. It can be due to the increase of electron-hole life time for the composite sample.
