FTIR spectra of GRT are difficult to "read" because of carbon filler. The bands are broad and have of very low intensity. As a whole the contribution of the spectrum of GRT to the total spectrum of polymeric matrix - works as a rather strong background which in turn
complicates the interpretation of the composition containing GRT which are employed for GRT utilization.

Actually my main subjects are Polyimides and Polysacharides; and my favorite method of the structure investigaton is FTIR.
Many years ago me and my friend Sergei Magonov have translated into Russian : Painter-Coleman-Koenig's Book on Vibrational Spectroscopy and its Applications to Polymeric Materials and thus introduced many terms which are used now in Russian Literature on FTIR.

What method was used for the obtaining of IR spectra? In the case of most common ATR measurement the problems can be caused by very high refraction index of carbon containing rubber samples. In such a situation it is recommended to use an ATR element with highest possible RI - germanium instead of ZnSe or diamond.

Thank you for your fast response. For measurements we employed ATR with diamond (n=2.4) element of internal reflection. The problem is as I told in extremely low bands intensity appr. 0.02-003 Abs.Units. Of course I can make band assignments myself, but I thought there might be some publications on this subject.
