Personally, I choose research designs/approach, data collection instruments, data analytical methods, sampling designs that agree with the entire caveats of the work particularly the research questions that drive my study and that would yield the best findings that would best answer the research questions. How about you?

• we have to observe and analysis quality-full research and read and practice with research good methodology.

Very important question as usual, I consider explanation and conclusion of my proposed research as a back bone of my research methodology, because it give a clear idea about what is/are the main objectives of this research and the other items like analysis of the obtained data, statistical treatment, ..etc as a just tools to reach my or my paper aim.

When motives  are genuine, not just to satisfy the need of sciencific production, everything flows beautifully applying scientific methods to the research development.

Well , research should at times be shoddy :) else if you clearly know what it is then I for one won't consider it research , i will look at it as concoction ...

There is a method when you present it as a journal /paper , that conceals all the madness we go thru . For it to be robust , it has to be "bleeding edge " ...

The strength of  proposed methodology in a research work is dependent on the access to and understanding of the  first class information about the subject matter!

The information from  previous  and present works relevant to the subject matter  have tendencies to assist the building of strong foundation for the methodology.

Interesting comment. Of course, research is an expeditious journey which researchers don't know its destination unless they get there. This explains why sometimes on this journey, we sometimes have to change some aspects of our car (research) before we see the light on the road. Best regards

How to design a robust research project!

All researchers should aim to make their projects as robust and reliable as possible within the time and resources that they have available. Talk to the young researchers about what types of information they find reliable and unreliable and why. It might be helpful to talk to the group about whether they would:

-have the same confidence in a research report and a newspaper article

-trust a study of obesity if it was funded by the fast food industry

-find a study into what constitutes good teaching convincing if the researchers only talked to teachers

-develop a new policy based on the findings of a survey of ten people

-trust a study about how a teacher can meet the needs of the children in their class, if the researchers only interviewed the brightest children.

This can be a good starting point for helping the group to understand what makes research robust and to appreciate what the people they want to influence with their research will want to know. You can then discuss how the group will design their own research project to be robust...

How do you ensure the robustness of your methodology?

For starting using a new methodology, I would ask other researchers/labs who have more experiences in this area. And ask for possible negative and positive impacts on the results if the new methodology is used.

As a researcher, how do you ensure the robustness of your methodology?

In order to ensure the robustness of methodology of a research, we need to pay attention to rigorous literature review of the methodology.
