I think we are killing nature for development of human civilization and in return the nature will kill us eventually to restore the balance.

The world has currently reached the peak of its development in all fields. However, there is a growing fear of the risks that war between the super powers may erupt if so extreme or irrational people assume power and take decisions that may lead to the destruction of human civilization. Nature created life cycle where in one species are dependent on another. But somehow with the evolution of humans they have destroyed many species and their natural habitat. With technological development we feel our life is becoming easy but we have overlooked the price we are paying for it i.e in terms of pollution, fast melting glaciers, etc. If we keep misusing the resources slowly human race will also perish.

It's always both, with every new development something else is lost. With every new challenge, and the more we develop the more complex the challenges, we are required to use our brains in new ways.
With development we are at greater risk of self-destruction because of our greater capabilities. I think that in order to move forward with development without self-destructing we must build ethics and goodwill along with our technology. Some approaches to Transhumanism bring up the importance of ethically developing and using technology, to use it to lift all people and improve our environment rather than to dominate and destroy.
