yes, actually today researchers are less concerned about the impact of technology on environment. like in RF related research there are lot of health and environment hazards
The world has currently reached the peak of its development in all fields. However, there is a growing fear of the risks that war between the super powers may erupt if so extreme or irrational people assume power and take decisions that may lead to the destruction of human civilization. Despite all this fear, we look forward to the prevailing of stability and peace all over the world.
Nature created life cycle where in one species are dependent on another. But somehow with the evolution of humans they have destroyed many species and their natural habitat. With technological development we feel our life is becoming easy but we have overlooked the price we are paying for it i.e in terms of pollution, fast melting glaciers, etc. If we keep misusing the resources slowly human race will also perish.
I have recently found that human cells and bloods contain 20% of invaded microbes, and human diseases are caused by virus and bacteria. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been found to be caused by the co-infection of HCV and HIV-1 (please see file; HepG2 Fucoidan). Therefore, famous Indian religionist Gautama Buddha has said that 7-times of rebirths are necessary to erase the 20% of this invaded microbes. In Italy, famous Dr. Giordano Bruno has also said that humans are reborn.
Taking nutritions adequately is an important issue to prevent the invation of microbes, and to keep the healthy human life (please see file; Feed by Measure).
Recently, I have recognized that gene expression is under the control of virus. Therefore, the answer of "Are we moving towards development or approaching towards destruction of human civilization?" seems to be depended upon "How to plan the strategy in biological science and/or biomedical science". The utilization of notorious Genetics seems to be very dangerous.
We should accept the terms of the peace settlement of virus and bacteria, instead of annihilation of them by using such a bomb of antibiotics. Bacteria has resistance ability against antibiotics.
Humans are extremely intelligent and the most resilient of the species. All sorts of dinosaurs are extinct but humans not only continue to live on, we have almost doubles the life expectAndy compared to a couple of centuries ago. With advances in medicine, IT and transportation we have reduced hunger and famine. Malthusian theory was exactly that population bum will destroy ihumans. The theory failed because of agricultural revolution and other advanced. Overall, we are marching towards better lives than our those of forefathers
It's always both, with every new development something else is lost. With every new challenge, and the more we develop the more complex the challenges, we are required to use our brains in new ways.
With development we are at greater risk of self-destruction because of our greater capabilities. I think that in order to move forward with development without self-destructing we must build ethics and goodwill along with our technology. Some approaches to Transhumanism bring up the importance of ethically developing and using technology, to use it to lift all people and improve our environment rather than to dominate and destroy.
