I must do reverse transcription PCR of plant RNAs.
Do I need some specific kits for reverse transcription PCR of plant RNAs or I can use usual kits that are used for human RNA reverse transcription PCR?
That does not seem to be the case. It is more likely that you will see specific RNA extraction protocol rather than cDNA synthesis. Your question has been asked before and multiple kit suggestions have been made. Here is a link to the question:
Some specific RNA types like small RNAs with 3’-end, 2’-O-Me modifications , which are very common in plants, will not be reverse transcribed by a conventional RT kit. If that is what you are interested in you can take a look at the following kit or similar ones:
If you are interested in just reverse-transcribing standard RNA and you are having low yields the kit will not make a difference and probably you should concentrate on improving the original RNA quality using different plant-specific RNA extraction kits/protocols that suit your samples optimally.
Looking at the literature, I did not find specific kits for plant RNA to cDNA synthesis. So, It seems, as told by Hanna, you only need to do a good Plant RNA extraction and the rest should go easily.
I'm working with plants RNA, especially from Arabidopsis. I use RevertAid transcriptase (Fermentas) with OligodT. I've successfully used obtained cDNA in PCR and qPCR.
