Usually the mis-indexed points appear as isolated pixels and can be easily removed with the software. However, sometimes they are rather large clusters of data points (in cubic metals, misoriented by 30 or 60 degree to the neighborhood). In particualr, 60-degree clusters in steels produce problems when analyzing data, since their misorientations are close to inter-variant misorientations.
